GETTING TO NEVIS

Can I fly long haul directly into Nevis?

  • No. Nevis only has a small airport. That is why there is no mass tourism - thank goodness! Your journey will involve a long haul flight from North America or Europe to San Juan, St. Kitts, Antigua, or St. Martin.. Then you will have to take a local scheduled flight into Nevis. If your long haul destination is St. Kitts, you can make that final leg of your journey by sea, either by ferry or by private boat charter. That extra leg is a nuisance, but the memory soon fades, and your reward awaits you.....

Local ferries

  • Taking one of the passenger ferries from Basseterre, St. Kitts to Charlestown Nevis can be a very pleasant way to complete your journey to Nevis. The ferry terminal in Basseterre is only a few minutes by taxi from St. Kitts airport, and the ride from Charlestown port up to Hill Rise House is much shorter than from Nevis airport. The crossing between the two capital towns takes about 45 minutes. The ferry schedule can be found at http://boatschedule.leytonms.com/index.php, but it always best to check with the operators when making your travel plans.
  • The Sea Bridge car ferry service operates a 15 minute crossing every 2 hours, but keep in mind there is a 20-25 minute road journey to the car ferry terminals on each island.
